These telegrams and letters went back and forth between E.C. Bidwell (Griffith's studio manager while he was in Europe) and Albert H.T. Banzhaf (Griffith's attorney) as well as other people concerning a gap in Colleen's contract while she was supposed to be making "The Savage" for Bluebird Photoplays/Universal FIlm Manufacturing. If she was still under contract in August/September and we are to assume her contract began sometime around her arrival in Los Angeles in November 1916, then clearly her contract was for more than the six months she always claimed. A ledger book entry for December, 1917 shows that at last Colleen wqas paid $900 for her time.

Telegram (above) from Bidwell to  J.A. Barry (Secretary of the Griffith Corporation ?) regarding current disposition of Colleen and possibly Frank "Huck" Wortman, the studio carpenter.

Letter from E.C. Bidwell to A. Branzhaf regarding Colleen and her work and situation at the studio.

"Miss Moore in to see me again per my letter third she has been idle three weeks and now appears anxious about salary."

"Colleen Moore again inquiring about money says she is broke."

"Please advise bout Miss Moore as she claims six weeks due her at fifty"
